في مستشفى في الولايات المتحدة أنجبت مريضة لاتتحدث اللغة الأنكليزية مولودها للتَو.استغرق المخاض وقتا طويلاً ممّا تسبب في حدوث ضائقة جنينية. ونتيجة لذلك سجل الوليد قراءة منخفضة على مقياس أبغار .اقترحت الطبيبة اجراء ربط قناة فالوب لانّ حدوث حمل آخر في المستقبل يمكنه أن يشكل خطورة على حياة الأم وحياة طفلها التالي . وبعد الأنتهاء من الشرح أعطت الطبيبة للمريضة استمارة موافقة بعلمٍ مسبق باللغة الأنكليزية فوقعت المريضة عليها. وعندما غادرت المريضة غرفة الولادة أُخذت الى غرفة العمليات. المريضة تفاجأت بأنهم لم يأخذوها الى غرفتها كي ترى ابنها وتساءلت: "لماذا لاتاخذونني الى غرفتي؟" عندذاك بحث الموظفون الطبيون عن موظف يتحدث اللغة العربية وعندما وصل الموظف اعلموه بخصوص الأجراء المطلوب . شرح الموظف للمريضة انهم يأخذونها الى غرفة العمليات لعمل أجراء طبي لمنع حدوث حمل في المستقبل .تفاجأت المريضة وقالت انها لاتريد أن تُجرى لها عملية. أبلغت الطبيبة المريضة من خلال الموظف الذي يتحدث العربية أنها كانت وقعت على مستند الموافقة بعلمٍ مسبق. اجابت المريضة قائلة صحيح أنها كانت وقعت على المستند المكتوب باللغة الانكليزية الاّ انها لم تكن تفهم محتوى هذا المستند كما أنها لم تفهم ماكانت تشرحه الطبيبة لها ولهذا السبب قررت المريضة الغاء الموافقة وطلبت أن يأخذوها الى الغرفة لتكون مع ابنها .

mRNA Vaccines Are New, But Not Unknown
Researchers have been studying and working with mRNA vaccines for decades. Interest has grown in these vaccines because they can be developed in a laboratory using readily available materials. This means the process can be standardized and scaled up, making vaccine development faster than traditional methods of making vaccines.
mRNA vaccines have been studied before for flu, Zika, rabies, and cytomegalovirus (CMV). As soon as the necessary information about the virus that causes COVID-19 was available, scientists began designing the mRNA instructions for cells to build the unique spike protein into an mRNA vaccine.
Future mRNA vaccine technology may allow for one vaccine to provide protection for multiple diseases, thus decreasing the number of shots needed for protection against common vaccine-preventable diseases.
Beyond vaccines, cancer research has used mRNA to trigger the immune system to target specific cancer cells.
